24th Great Northern Festival 2018

Was held on Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December 2018
at The Hough End Centre, Mauldeth Road West, Chorlton, Manchester, M21 7SX

The Friday evening saw a presentation 'Mood and Music' by Judith Kimber from Belfast

Judith has been a secondary school music teacher for thirty years. For the last sixteen of those, Head of Music at Strathearn School in Belfast, her home city. She has been taking photographs seriously for the last five years, and learnt a huge amount since joining Bangor and North Down Camera Club. Her friends and mentors there also introduced her to the art of AV, and she found this medium attractive from the start because it offers such great opportunities for combining music and photography. She particularly enjoys composing music for her own AV’s.

Judith’s talk was excellent and pitched so that whatever your musical knowledge there was something for everyone.
She demonstrated by using different pieces of music that you can alter the mood and feeling of your AV.
She also showed the thought process behind the music from her own AV's and how she had used a small musical 'motif' to represent the different characters that was used throughout the sequence.
